Jetpack
Everyone hates traffic and the daily commute. A personal transportation device holds the promise to
transform our cities and daily lives in the most drastic way since the first automobiles were introduced.
This initiative is called 'Jetpack', but we will provide our support for the development of flying car
programs as well, since there may be crossover applications of the technology.
Most of the jetpack research programs in the past have focused on military applications, and were thus
abandoned when it became apparent that soldiers would be too heavy and encumbered with all their
other equipment. We don’t have the same restrictions since we are developing it solely for commuting
and recreational purposes.
Traveling in airplanes and helicopters is one thing, but nothing must compare to the freedom of flying
solo in the open air without being confined in a metal and plastic shell. Everyone should know what it
feels like to soar through the air like a bird, and then land gracefully at a whim. With the help of NASA’s
‘Highways in the Sky’ program, it will help to ensure that this increase in civilian air traffic will be safe and
manageable.
Many jetpack programs have failed because they lacked a view beyond military application, ours strives for
the spirit of aviation alone. The Wright brothers didn’t give up after their first craft failed to fly, and
neither will we.
