Are you guys legit?
Yes. We are incorporated as a nonprofit organization in the State of California.
Are you guys nuts?
No, just audacious. Our staff of talented people dare to dream and reach for the unexplored
limits of technological possibility. We do, however, confine our research initiatives to sound
science based in reality and practicality.
Why a nonprofit organization and not a for-profit corporation?
All too often science is utilized for the sole purpose of profit, but we chose to take a different
path. By not having money leak away to satisfy profit needs, it enables us to invest every
dollar possible into each of our projects. We believe there are far more important
achievements in life that amassing huge profits.
Wouldn’t my money be better spent trying to save the rain forests or whales, or to
stop global warming?
Yes, you should contribute to those worthy causes. But we believe that there’s no point in
saving the world if we can’t enjoy… well, the joy. Many organizations, both nonprofit and
corporate, dedicate their time and resources solely to curing disease and other worthy
charitable causes. Our foundation is concerned with humanitarian needs, but we also
recognize the desire for futuristic products that offer an entertainment benefit as well.
Everyone knows what it’s like to stare in wonder at a movie screen and want to be a part of
that world. Bringing that magic to everyday life is what helps make life worth living.
Don’t scientists agree that these ideas are scientifically impossible?
No, there is no such consensus. Some valid points have been made about technical
limitations, but what these arguments don’t take into account are future technological
discoveries. No one truly knows what wonders lie ahead, but through research we intend to
find out. When faced with a challenge, it is our philosophy to listen to those that offer
possible solutions over those that choose defeat.
Don’t some respected people seriously doubt the feasibility of your work?
History is littered with those that lacked the ability to see beyond the horizon, pessimists
that could not stretch their imaginations to the possibility of what the future might be. The
New York Times famously ridiculed the science of being able to travel through the vacuum of
space, and then in 1969 was forced to retract its statements after the successful launch of
Apollo 11.
Isn’t it called “science fiction” because the science is fiction?
We make every effort to establish that the research we support is conducted professionally,
empirically and with clearly obtainable goals. We won’t be funding a time-traveling Delorean
anytime soon.
Isn’t the whole idea of trying to make these products just a sci-fi pipe dream?
Absolutely not. Everything from space travel, to video phones, to cloning and the internet
were at one time considered to be fanciful. With the American spirit of innovation, and quality
science, we believe that any of the engineering challenges that face us can be overcome.
How are donations allocated?
Our board of directors will periodically review proposals and award grants based on merit and
feasibility.
How can I make a donation?
We accept donations by mail and via our secure online payment system (PayPal).
When will I be able to purchase one of your products?
All of our projects are in various stages of development. We are committed to making our
products available as soon as possible, but creating reliable technology and ensuring public
safety are of paramount concern. Providing support to our programs is the best way for you
to speed their arrival. Also, sign up for our newsletter so that we can keep you updated
about our progress.
Where the heck is my warpdrive, transporter and holodeck?
One thing at a time. We want all of those things too, but we have decided to pursue the
“easiest” products first and work our way up to the really hard stuff.
Can David Filmore Speak at my event?
David has a very busy schedule and is thus not able to attend as many events as he’d like to.
Written requests will be passed along that are deemed appropriate, but we cannot guarantee
that he will be available or that you will receive a response.
Can I volunteer?
We are always pleased to receive offers to help from volunteers. However, we have a small
office and it can be difficult to accommodate everyone that we would like to. If you’d like to
volunteer, please email your resume and cover letter stating how you would like to contribute.
How can I apply for a grant?
We will issue notifications through our newsletter when we will be accepting proposals. In the
mean time, please feel free to check back for further updates.
